Luctor Et Emergo "I struggle I rise" is on our family crest. We didn't know we had a family crest until we discovered it on our journey with "Lucky." We have Do The Ton to thank for that. Lucky could never have emerged if it wasn't for DTT. We have some notable nobles of DTT to shout out to...Teazer, Sonreir, Kopcicle, and of course Tim. If you go through the strings you will find out that they tirelessly answer the same questions over and over. Kopcicle will justifiably spank you if you are an arrogant noob. Sonreir has spent months writing tutorials on how to build a cafe racer that we have read over and over. Teazer is obi wan, gandalf, and Bruce Lee of motorcycle racing builds. If you do any research on these guys you will find they have decades of experience.
My son wanted to take our Ford Taurus apart and well that wouldn't go over to well with mom. One day driving down the road I was listening to a show that said inventors were tinkerers. I made a right hand turn and pulled into L and L Motorcycle shop and lucked out because one of the bike that Tony was keeping for himself to restore was moved to the right side of the shop. You don't touch or ask about the stuff on the left side of the shop. 250 bucks later we had our little CB200. She sat for over 30 years and her motor was seized. We pumped diesel and marvel mystery oil through her for two weeks, made a grease fitting and tried to pump grease into the cylinder, and finally made a piston extraction tool. She was seized where both pistons were all the way at the top but not at TDC.
We procured parts from all over the world and because of CMSL in the Netherlands we found out about our Dutch heritage. Everybody thinks Lucky's colors are Gulf colors but they are our Dutch colors. With the orange emerging out of a sea of blue. We waited and waited for our little CB to tell us her name until one day when I misspelled Lucktor Et Emergo on our shed door and Zeke said, "I know her name. Her name is Lucky!
We are the Lucky ones. We have met amazing people because of Lucky. We were so green I didn't know the difference between a 4 stroke and 2 stroke. Both my son and I are abstract random and it is a miracle that Lucky is running so well. We are both tactile in our learning and have to feel the pain or experience it to learn it!
We want to thank our local college for denying us the opportunity to join their motorcycle mechanics program because my son was too young. That closed door led us to the open door of DTT.
