Feeler - Group Ride - Circumnavigate Oregon

Hey all,

I've been toying with the idea of organizing a ride; possibly for charity. The idea is that we circumnavigate Oregon over the course of two or three days. Total mileage would be just under 1500 for the entire journey.

I've not done too much further research at this point (no schedule stops, etc), but I figured I'd just chuck this out there to see if anyone else may be interested in doing such a thing.

Here's a link to the suggested route. I started it off in Newport, but it's just as easy to begin anywhere else along the route and I figured people may want to only do a leg or two instead of the whole thing.

What dates are you thinking? I-84 might be too much for my 360 but the 101 section looks cool.

No dates just yet... I'm thinking toward the tail end of summer though... August or September.

Im in!

Not sure for how much of it. But you'll be coming right through here. So I'm down for a few hundred miles or so @ a minimum.

Any preferences for camping out under the stars or grabbing a motel? Maybe time our stops in semi-populated areas to allow for both?

Sounds like fun! I'm in. The proposed route goes within 20 miles of our cabin. Be a little detour but worth it for an overnighter. I'm down for sleeping under the stars.

I'm in for a leg or two, but with my other trips this summer I can't make it away for the whole thing.

You could cross over the Columbia River and go west on the Washington side. It's a little hillyer and slower than the I-84 speedway. Just a thought.

Yeah... I just examined that option and I'm pretty sure we'll take it. It seems like a lot nicer ride than the Interstate.

OK... here's the proposed route and itinerary.

I've done most of the research through Google, so any of you guys who know these areas is person, PLEASE suggest some interesting stopping points and such.

WOW, If i hit this ride im going to have to get a bigger bike. I dont think my back could take that kind of mileage on the 360.

I would love to get in on this. It will depend on timing, but late summer sounds great.

A stop at Denio Jct (the ONLY) gas in that area for quite a distance, REQUIRES a burger and shake at the little diner there. 140 is very lonely in those parts, and you may get to see some wild mules and antelope out there.

I'll need to talk to some people, but I think I'll ride into portland> then ride with ya all the way back to ontario.

Whats every one plan on riding? I plan on riding the XS750 triple. I even have some saddle bags... haha oh-ya!

Might have to get me some leather tassels for this trip. Wonder if Joe has any extra... haha

I'm not real sure about the 15min stop thing. I'm not big on a real tight ship. I like-ta go with the flow of things, ya know...?

Having ridden a lot ov those roads at one time or another, I can assure you there will ba a desire tostop for some photos asthere is a lot of cool scenery. Plus, It usuallt takes a bit longer between stops than the map says . . .

I may have an old two stroker for the trip by then, but most likely will bring my Magna (it does have a cafe fairing!) or my valkyrie. If the latter, i can act as a tow rig if necessary!
