Hello all! I'm Adam, I'm a financial management major at Clemson University. The irony of that is I just traded an sr20 swapped 240sx for an'85 CB650. Smart? Maybe not. But I've wanted a bike for a long time. Dad always had old BMW's, Ducs, Aprillias, etc. when I was growing up. Rode motorcross for years until I ended up in the ER. So it was probably just a matter of time before I got a street bike. Anyway, here's the bike. Immediate plans are seat pan, new carbs, maybe clip ons, and generally clean up/alleviate the "dark night rises" look. I got a parts bike with it, so I'll probably swap over a few of the shiny bits. I'm new to the cafe scene, so any advice is much welcomed.
I agree with you that the all black look is very 1999. A little color could make a big difference to that bike. How bad/good is the parts bike and how does it look? What I'm getting at is that if the spare looks good to you, maybe you could swap over some of the body parts - I should probably rephrase that to brighten it up.
If that works, at least you can run what you have while you clean/polish/repair/paint the spares and then swap them over when you are ready.
