thx

yeah man if it was running in tip top shape i could see him asking 1200-1500 but with all those caviat's like "odometer not working"--yeah right, and will need some work time to time--aka runs like crap .. he can't expect to pull that kind of money. The paint job sounds second rate the way he is putting it too. If you are looking into getting an old bike you certainly will have to learn a thing or three about motors, carbs, etc but get in cheap and spend your money making it yours.

Here in the States (at least where I live) thats a $500 - $700 bike. $2000 is insane.

Now, if youre dead set on a 175 or 200, forget the 200. Its slower, and harder to find parts for than the 175.

I don't believe in high milage. I would be more concerned about a bike that has extremely low mileage. Condition is far more important than road miles. Those ones that sat and rusted inside and out are much worse off than A bike that has been ridden and maintained which is far more worthy. That being said I would go with a bike anywhere between 10k and 40k. Go gaugeless it saves alot of mental anguish

40k is really high for a small displacement bike. Stay under 20k if you can, and hopefully the owner can PROVE that it has been properly maintaned. Very low miles arent a bad thing as long as the bike is well cared for and properly stored. The good thing about these old bikes, is that theyre really quite simple. Easy and somewhat inexpencive to rebuild (depending on the rarity of the model of course).
