Frame modification question.

I am looking to clean up the frame on my 1978 cb550k and I am trying to remove any unnecessary tabs etc before I paint the frame. Question - I won't be needing the passenger pegs, so can that triangle/elbow be removed that the rear pegs were mounted on? Just want to know if removing this part of the frame will affect the structural integrity or rigidly of the frame as a whole. Thank you!

Nope, removing those won't hurt a thing, as long as you don't gouge the heck out of the tube.

As long as your not using your stock pipes that mount to them also

Don't cut them until you have the exhaust sorted. Even a 4into1 may need that mount.
