Fresh fasteners (black oxide)?

Well like I said before if you want black it will have to be Black Zinc or a Black Anodize.
If you do all stainless steel bolts with black oxide the finish will eventually go away it's not a long term type plating.
If you do black oxide on steel parts you will eventuall have rust.

So the only other choice is the painting the heads of the screws but again it will chip off.

It's up to you and you may find a specialty sop that sell that type of finish but it will take some looking in to online.

Good Luck.

I know this is a old thread but why don't you try parkerizing, most of the guns use this process as finish and it's black, by the way, that I know off you can't anodize steel or stainless

I didn't know there was such a process...This thread seems to believe the black won't last long there, either, and the finish provides no corrosion resistance:

It doesn't seem like there are many durable black finishes for a reasonable amount of time/money, and since corrosion resistance is my top priority, I just bought some stainless steel stuff.

thye rust like mad... we coat bolts though, holds up great and looks awesome

You can get black oxide stainless fasteners, which would not rust and be the desired color.

Burbankplating.com used them for years. BLACK ZINC.. super cheap, I've done every bit of fasteners from two bikes for $60. Send them your parts and get them back the same week.
