i would sugest a perch mount mount as well, man it sucks not having a light come on when you hit the brakes... i had a buddy smash into a friend last year cause he did not have a front brake switch, it ws night and he could not see that he was slowing down to make a right, totaled both bikes, broken jaw and 2 broken legs was what was left... no one was speeding, doing 35 actually... it was a mess... put one on there brother. cars behind you are not so forgiving
So this means I should wire it into the rear brake switch circuit? The 68 did not have a switch up front so the wiring for the front is not there. How could I wire both switches into the same circuit? Thanks guys.
The front brake light switch on the 68 was probably in the cable. My 175 is the same way. Looking at this wiring diagram

you should have a green/yellow and a black to plug one right in. Hope this helps.
K guys figured that one out thanks just plugging in 74 switch where the 68 switch would go. Just curious thought does anyone have a picture or diagram of the 68-69 front switch installed?
I've talked to a few old salty motorcycle guys and they told me that they always run a rear switch. Sometimes they don't run a front, incase they have to get rid of a tail. ;D That way you can only use the front to disappear. Also the front brake does the majority of the work. I still don't think it's safe and it is definitely not legal if that's your reason.

re: legality, my cb350 is without one as well. i checked and in my great big burning home state of victoria, australia, old bikes which came stock from the factory without one, do not require one to be registered. you might want to check if that's the same in your place of residency.
I see the cool bandit part of it, the reason (for my last post on this thread) is because I was ordering hoses (2) for the 74 front end and was thinking of saving 50% if I deleated one hose and was able to use an old 68 front switch. Needles to say I'm ordering both hoses, but I still have the old 68 front end and using it on my next project so I need to see how that switch mounts and where. Thanks guys. Passing the test at DMV also of course.
sorry guys i go into the store to get this one... I have a buddy that's dad has a small chopper supply company up the road... he had like 3 or 4 of these in his stock, mostly all diff theads. cost me 10 bucks when i bought it. I know JP cycles has them as well. sorry no cheap trick on this one.
Dude, You NEED a switch. Who knows when I'll be behind you.
Either use the banjo bolt switch (thieir pretty neat) or just get a later brake lever assembly with it built in. Wiring is EZ just - just 2 wires.
A guy on a sportbike was following a guy on vintage bike a little too close, so the vintage owner took him to task on it. The guy said not to worry my new bike has way better brakes than your old ride, I'll be stopped way before you once I see your brake light come on. The guy with the older ride then told him his bike has acetaline lamps and as such wasn't equipped with a brake light.
i have the rear brake switch (pull style) from my rear brakes off the GSXR rear sets i used... if you can use it let me know and i will send it out to you!

no i did not use the pull type... my brake switch is in the drum... so i do not have use for the push pull switch, if i was to use it i woudl just hook up the wire and leave the switch on the perch from the rear sets. either way would be easy to run... depends on your rear sets but you should be able to make a perch out of an angle bracket pretty easy
