Fuel pumps and where you buy you're fuel.

RUN SCREAMING!!!
So I've got this thing where I'll only buy fuel from pumps that are one fuel only, as in this pum only pushes out 91 and if you want 85 you gotta use another pump. My brother told me that his buddy (I know I know, he said that she said that they were ect ect) is a maintenance guy for gas pumps. He says that the pumps where you can select whatever grade of fuel you want pump out about 10 liters of whatever grade the previous guy was buying before your selected grade starts flowing.

Example- If I'm buying say 12 Liters of 91 then Im in fact paying for 10-ish liters of 86 at 91 prices.

The price difference I'm not too worried about, the the quality of fuel is....
Therefore I only buy my fuel from a few select places in Ottawa where they have single fuel pumps, they also happen to be owned by a smaller, more local company, so I feel better about giving them my money

Does anyone have any opinions about this?

Don't have an opinion to add but you have definitely given me food for thought.

It's logical that pumps here in Oz would be doing the same!

Yes, but no. The difference amounts to maybe a cup of whatever gas the last person bought.

Real thing to be aware of? Never get gas when the pump will only run very slowly. This indicates a clogged filter, or worse, that the wax ball in the filter (designed to keep water from getting to the customer) has broken loose.

Shiny Side Up!

No no, he was right to correct me. I usually proof read everything I post, despite my lack of education. There is no reason for us not to speak or type properly, regardless of blood alcohol levels. ;D
