FZR600 fighter

Dang those things look amazing, your pictures make it look so easy... I know better. Your hard work really shines in that finished product, props!

That is a great colour, and the wheel looks outstanding!!! I may just have to have you do some stuff for me, matey!!!

just let me know bud... Twisted they are staying like they are, doing a black wheel strip on the inner lip but going to use the decals to do that... we put too much work into getting rid of the casting marks to cover it up with black! this powder is really hard to work with, does not want to stick when we are shooting it, took almost a pound of powder to do the wheels alone! so we will see what else gets done in the orange... ill take somepics with a real camera when i get home from my snowmobile trip... they look insane!

hahahaha nope, nothing new yet... HOWEVER!!!! i will have the front end off tonight, some new clips soldered in for the headlight... and start to prep the plastics for paint... i want to be laying paint this saturday...

here is a better shot of the front wheel

F*** me!!! I need some mags to have powdered. You are KILLING me with those pics, mate!!!!

well... got the wiring all out of the bike last night, front end gets torn down tonight... then the frame will be powdered... we are going to pair the orange with this tuscan black... it is a 10% flat black... should look wicked with the orange! Sean and i went over what parts we where going to do black and orange last night... so we are now on the same page and ready to lay some color! I am ordering my powder right now... and have began to prep for paint as well... going to be a big weekend on the fighter.
what do you guys think? i think the flat black will be differnet and fit the fighter theme pretty well... i have never used flat black on anyting EVER, so i am pretty stoked!

I LOVE Flat Black! Looks like there is a bit of a satin sheen to it, should look nice and rich but subdued at the same time.. Good Choice!

Should work great Joe! I would change something else on the ppaint plans to even it back out after changing the finish of the black. coat your CF with the glossiest shit you can find and make it look like mountain fresh irish spring water!

not sure i am picking up what your laying down? you mean on the clear coat for the plastics? i am planning on useing that rattle clear that Troy found, that looks awesome, i want to do like 5 coats of that on the plastics... i think the motor i am going to do in flat black... 2 diff blacks on the bike may look weird, my header is a type of gloss but not very gloss

Yeah, thats what I mean, the clear over the CF be really glossy and do all your black in a flat finish! If all the black matches ( or real close to matching) it will have a better overall effect! Multiple black finishes has its place in some builds, but not this one, your highlighted shit will stand of in the orange and CF, the rest you want to just melt onto the background as the eye moves across the bike. A gloss black will make that part stand out over the flat and try to make it a highlighted piece. Not exactly what your shooting for on this one!

Mixing the finishes between matt, satin and gloss works well. I've got satin triples with matt bars / frame on my ZX9 and it looks great ;) It really helps to break up the "boringness" of flat black.....

Here's an extreme example:

Hard to see in the pic, but that bike looks a million $$ in the flesh :p

got to be honest... not a fan at all! not even a little bit, all it is is a tire hugger, the back of the frame cut off, and black powder.. not impressed

LOL - powder snob ;D

Seriously, I don't like bobbed fighters either - its just the contrast between gloss and flat blacks I was trying to show you. It can look awesome if it's done right, and that Bladerod looks the biz up close :p

And seeing as you are doing the bronze(ish) colour as well, mixing the black finishes will look even better ;)

got over 40 pieces blasted tonight, round one of the flat black is shot, rest will be done tomorrow, did my down tubes in gloss black... looks insane! tired.... ill describe it all tomorrow!
