I have gas leaking out the carb, i had the carbs rebuilt 2 years ago but i dont know if he did anything with the floats. What is the first thing i should do? Im so close to being on the road
Im thinking of pulling the carbs off and opening them up to clean the floats and maybe adjust them but im not very experienced with carbs so i thought id ask you guys first.
Thanks in advance

Are they constantly leaking/flowing , if so it may just be a stuck plunger. Try tapping the bowl with a screwdriver handle or a small hammer,
this will seat the plunger.

It will be either the float valve is stuck or dirty or float height.
Is this your 450? Is to check with carbs on the bike,
Remove the bowl, (careful to catch the float needle if it fall sout though) let the floats hang down, take the needle and clean it - reinstall and do the same to the other carb.
If nothing has changed since your stored it last year, most likely just dirt

Hope this helps

with the float needle on my 34mm mikuni's I used a q-tip with steel wool to clean the seat and the tip of the needle. I also hava an issue with my petcock leaking just a little. floods the bowls. Have you checked the petcock? just a thought

i havent gotten to my bike yet, but to respond to your posts... the petcock is NOS, and im dont know much more yet. thanks. I'll try this all out tom. i hope

i got my bike back to my house and got it running without any problems, i even got to ride it down the block a few times, i havent noticed any gas coming from the carbs at all, even when i leave the petcock on. i do however have a oil leak somewhere...seems to be near the points cover. damnit oh and i have no power to my tail light wires
