I just took the clutch cover off my kz440. The gasket was shot. I did make a new gasket from the cork/rubber mix gasket material by cutting out around the cover and plan to put it on with black gasket sealer on each side of the gasket. Is this the correct method and do you think this will work? I do not want to buy a new gasket kit of this if I do not have to.

thank you

Spread/smear a ultra thin layer of sealer on it and you should be ok. The factory gaskets are designed to not need sealer. So if it still leaks with the new gasket, you should check for a warped cover.

Just curious though... why not just buy an OEM gasket? They're only like $25.

Roll or gasket material is like, only $5.00
Just mak sure you have any internal oil holes cut out and it will be fine

it is a bit ghetto but you can also use cereal boxes to make gaskets... ya ya ya ghetto but it works! the old man showed me this trick years ago when i had a bad leak in college an no money... he walked me though it over the phone and it worked great!
