Coast to Coast
I have been trying for two days to get on to gasolina boot site I wanted to finally order some boots and I keep getting the can't find server error.

anybody else tried and failed as well?

Seems to be down. Funny I was just looking at those the other day. I'm kicking myself for not trying some on at Barber last October - they were set up there.

I was looking at them as well.. I hesitated when I saw how many people had to send them back to rework them because they couldn't get them to fit right... so I ordered these.. they should be in any day now..

So I guess the logical question is where can I look at a pair of these cafematty?

Site's back up but only to tell you the site is down ;) Bonus pic of a nice girl on the page, and an email for info/orders. I think you trace your feet and they make you boots.

I had read a while back on their site that they were going to stop doing custom sizing and start making the boots in standard sizes.

I wasn't really considering a boot purchase, but both of these models have piqued my interest!

Does anyone have personal experience with either the Gasolina or Icon boots! They both look great and the price seems to be similar.

Opinions??

The Icons (called the Elsinore), have JUST shipped to distributors.. So they aren't even out yet. They're telling me I should be in them in a few weeks. I'll definitely let you know how they go.

I tried on a different boot when I ordered them. The guy said it would be the same fit, and they seem to run large. I normally wear a 13 and ordered a 12, so I'd definitely recommend trying them on at an Icon dealer before purchase.

I got a set of Gasolina's for X-mas and I absolutely love them!!! I like them so much that I'm considering unloading my vintage Belstaff Blue Ribands.

Elsinores just came in.. So far I love them..

Wrote a mini review on my blog..

I got what may actually BE the last of the custom fitted Gasolina boots. Mine fit like really REALLY good dress shoes. They feel fantastic and are really nicely made. My only gripe....and it's a pretty small one, I wish it had another 1/2" of heel. My beef with dress shoes universally is that it feels like I'm walking flat footed as I'm used to steel toed logger style 14" I wear at the shop, or my cowboy boots. Luckily there's a well regarded cobbler just up the road from the shop who will be putting that extra material in the heel for me. $25 and done!

I'd recommend them to anyone so long as they understand about hand made stuff. Otherwise those rad Icon's should do ya. I might need to track down a pair to wear with the kilt!

See, I appreciate the smaller heel. I've actually strayed away from certain boots cause the heel and sole were to big and they looked too clunky. I'd kill for a pair of those Gasolines!

Wellllllllll.....

So I hammered out a few hundred miles on the Elsi's over the weekend. I just realized earlier that a little stud broke off of one of the buckles. I posted up on Icon's facebook, and they simply said Yeah we thought this might happen, here's the replacement part number.. have a good day..

That's a little annoying.. It isn't as though I've been dragging them around the dirt track, beating the poo out of them.. Just riding. And they didn't bother to offer to replace the part or anything.. I called the store, they said bring them back with receipt for a replacement.

Anyway.. here's my 300 mile review. http://www.cafematty.com/icon-elsinore-boots-300-mile-review/

I was a little worried when I saw the mechanism for the 'buckle'. No real way to leverage the straps and not a solid mount. Clearly not really intended to be 'used' aside from an initial adjustment and then only using the zipper. Fragile cast metal.

For the long haul I'd consider exploring velcro replacements for the buckles altogether.
