Gauge disassembly!!!!!!

BUILT NOT BOUGHT!
Guys I really need some help quick here, I need a full technical write-up on how to disassemble a Honda tach and speedo to remove the face and then reassemble. I have seen a few different guys do it a couple different ways. I need a good method and I need it written out as if the person working on it has never worked on gauges before. I know this is an odd request, but I will let you all know what it is for real soon and it may benefit other members of the site too. Thanks ahead of time for anyone who can offer me this. Ohh....and if you include pics, even better! More than one person can post a detailed method, the more there are, the better info I will have.

I just finished the (dis/re)-assembly of both my speedo and tach. How much disassembly are we talking about? Just getting the mechanical parts out of the casing or a full disassemble?

No, just down to get the gauge face off , then build back up from there to a complete gauge again. If you could do a nice instructional style write-up for me and include pics if you have them, I would greatly appreciate it. I need to use it for a write-up and will give you credit as the author.

Sonrier, I do really appreciate you doing the leg work, but the site herrdeacon posted is very good with very good pics, so I believe I will use it. I would hate to waste your time so I wanted you to know. But thanks again!

HerrDeacon, thanks man, great site and will do the trick perfect for what I need!

I've only got pics for a few parts but here's how I did it.

1. Take all nuts off the back
2. Using a dremel, slice the trim ring neatly.
3. Split gauge into two halves along the trim ring
4. Get a fork. Point the needle straight up towards the top of the gauge. Insert your fork so the needle is in between your tines and the part of the fork on the bottom between the tines and handle is resting on one of the screws. Pry gently, rocking back a few times if needed.

5. Take off two screws on gauge face.

To reassemble, reverse procedures and use JB Weld to reconnect trim ring.

I used a very similar process to 66replica. One thing to note: In the links that HerrDeacon posted, the gauge mechanics were secured by a metal ring that had to be pried open. Both of my gauges were secured with formed plastic that needed to be trimmed off (like 66replica states in step #2).
