Getting canned on Insurance. Need Help.

Every quote I get is well over $3000.

I'm 22, M1 with a motorcycle safety course. 1972 CB350. Is this right? If so I have no chances of getting it on the road.

I've tried a bunch of different brokers all through Jevvco I believe.

There are other threads about this but all seem to be several years old.

I ran the numbers through Progressive and I'm seeing $232 a year for a single, 22 year old, male.

Fill out your profile there, indy. Location plays a big part in insurance cost.

Sonreir - I may be doing something way wrong here but I can't seem to find Progressive insurance for Canada.

VonYinzer - Yeah, just outside Toronto.

My other option is, I could potentially be considered common law instead of single? Would that have much of an effect though?

Ya... Canadas insurance is VERY different. You should go talk to an agent face to face... They tend to be more helpful in a personal meeting.

Well you've covered location already...but your profile info here on DTT...like where you live, so we don't have to ask you...

Three grand on a 350??? You must be in Brampton.
For those not aware, insurance fraud in this part of town is a growth industry.

I'm in Georgetown. Would I have better luck with a Toronto address? Is it fraud if I stay at my girlfriends 4 nights a week in Toronto?

Glad I'm not alone on thinking this is ridiculous.

PS, I tried JR Duffy. Same story.

Thinking about trying to use a cottage address and call my situation common law. See if that changes anything.

Otherwise, CB350 for sale.

You may need to get your M2 and wait it out a year. The Jevco quote should be at least half by then. Not only are you dealing with Canadian insurance but it's Ontario insurance, the most expensive in all of Canada, hell most expensive in North America.

When I say fraud I was referring to a certain demographic who instead of joining the workforce, like to secure income by way of bogus injury claims through staged accidents. One of the reasons I hate taking the 410. Or as most call it - The Hindi 500.

And think twice before providing any information on an insurance app that isn't 100% accurate. These A-holes employ lots of people whose job is to find misrepresentation so they can deny any claim. And then put you into facility with the drunks and stunt drivers.

The problem is, you will always pay out the nose in the beginning because you are young. I am shocked you are being quoted $3000 on a CB350 though.

Do you have any other vehicles? is the address on your license Georgetown or Toronto?

When I get my bike, granted I was 27, I had never owned a car and had nearly zero insurance history. I paid $1200 per year. Now with my car and bike on the same policy I pay $600ish this only helps if you already insure a car.

I know some insurance companies won't insure motorcycles for people under 25, which also limits your selection. I'd visit all your local brokers and see what they can offer. Also, if you are a student, see if there are any deals though your school or alumni association. I get something like 10% off my insurance through my alumni association.

You should post some pictures of your bike. Those old girls are beauties.

Its true, I'm definitely prepared to pay high rates because I'm young. There's no getting around that. But other guys my age are being quoted 1200 and 1400 for their first year of insurance and very similar bikes. I'm carefully going through and comparing the details of the quotes trying to figure out what is different. I'd be a fool not to investigate a price difference of over 2000.

Today I got a quote from State Farm for 2800. That's shit, still. But its better. They also told me if I it was part of a family plan including my parents' cars it would be down to 1600. That is what I'm trying for.

So did you ask JR Duffy or another broker what it is that is making the rate so high? If its your age, not much you can do about it. If it's your address, well, your address is your address. If anything Toronto would be more expensive, although I don't think address has anything to do with it.

You're asking for liability-only correct?

Once you determine what it is that is making it so expensive, then you can do something about. But so far I'm not seeing the reason it's expensive.

Can I ask; do you have any traffic tickets? That makes a big difference.

Getting on your parents policy would help for sure. My buddy is 25 on his parents policy and pays 60$ a month for full coverage on his 2011 Triumph Street Triple R. Honestly, at 22 years old, I'd be happy with $1600 per year, its better then $3000.
