GODDAMNSONOFABITCHFUCK (layed down the KZ this morning)

Yep, had a bit of a spill on my way to work this morning. I'm a little sore but no major damage to me. The bike took a mild beating but I'm quite sure it's savable.
So far my left elbow and right hand are stiff, and I've got a small bruise on my right hip. I was wearing my armored jacket, jeans and leather boots with my snowboard jacket and pants over all that (it was pissing rain this morning). Ripped my snowboard pants and jacket but that's all.
I was in the right lane (2 lanes each way) coming up to an intersection when a dump truck decided to turn left in front of me. He kept creeping across and as I went around him the front tire washed out. I'm pretty sure I didn't hit the front brake so I must have hit some standing water. As soon as I felt the front end go I remember thinking "I'm going down, don't fight it" and consciously decided to relax my body. The bike slid out away from me and I slid on my left side for probably 60-70 yards down the street.I got up and did a quick personal inventory and figured I was ok. I looked back towards the intersection and saw the tail end of the dumptruck driving away around the corner. I ran up the street yelling and swearing and jumping up and down. He kept going and at the time I wasn't with it enough to get his plate. I walked back to the bike and got it up on the wheels and rolled it off the street.
A few cars stopped to see if I was ok and then kept going. No one got out of their cars to talk to me or help me pick up the bike.
I called the police to report it and was told that if there was no other vehicles involved and I wasn't injured they won't get involved and there is no need to report it. Next call was my insurance company who basically said there was nothing they could do because I don't have collision coverage and there was no other vehicle involved. I had them start a claim anyway in case it can be classified as a hit and run. I doubt they will do anything so I'll have to wait and see what happens. I'm going to go to a clinic this afternoon just to have something on record in case the claim goes through.

The bike isn't too bad, the worst part is the right side engine cover ground off and crushed the ignition parts behind it. The exhaust is ground down, the brake pedal is bent and ground down and the rear signal and front brake lever got scratched.

I'll be putting my bug back on the road this weekend and checking around the local bike wreckers to see if I get it back together on the cheap for now.

That sucks dude!!... MAN...
Sorry to hear about it..Well at least you were able to walk away ok... So considering the circumstances, you did pretty darn good!!...

Yeah I'm alright, that's the main thing. The experience was pretty surreal as it was happening. As soon as I felt the bike slide everything slowed down and I had the time to process what was happening and react accordingly. It was a pretty mellow go down, I just slid out, didn't roll or flop around or anything.

good to see you're alright. Well the rain probably helped you when you came down. just as far as not rolling around. But then again you would not of had this problem if it wasnt raining. And dumb trash guys.

Wow, scary stuff. Glad you made it out of it intact. You may feel it more tomorrow morning though. Looks like the bike didn't get any serious damage. All the parts look like easy to replace bits (as long as you can find them). Do a double check to make sure nothing structural was bent as well though.

The bike went down soft and from a quick visual inspection I don't think there was any frame or front end damage. Didn't even bend the bars. I'll be doing some parts hunting tomorrow after I get the bug going. There are few decent wreckers around here so I don't think it will be too hard to find the parts.

Sucks you laid it down man . You don't look too bad though. As long as you're in one piece . But I'd be more worried about that head gasket than the cosmetic stuff though. Got some serious leakage going on there .

Been down that road last fall... had two biker chicks stop... came back to reality with the two of them hovering over me asking if I was all right...

at least that's how I remember it ;D

Glad you walked away man 8)

Man, sucks that you put it down, but good you didn't roll under the dump truck!!!!

Do you need a new clutch cover? I'm pretty sure I've got at least one of them in my garage if you need one. For a DTT member it'll go on the cheap, just let me know if you need it. My email is axton_kahler@yahoo.com.

Once again, glad you're still with us!!!!

Dude - 60-70 yard slide? That's one hell of a long slide! Glad you're ok, and hope you manage to recover some of the costs through insurance.

This gives me an idear.... I'm thinking of a special DO THE TON patch or sticker for those who have paid the price and earned the badge of honor.

What do you guys think?

I'd second that and like the rest of your "family" here, I'm glad you're able to get upright n stuff.

I'm for that too. wish we could make one for everyones wreck. like a dumptruck patch. or a kickstand. something. maybe like a test crash dummy thing. i dont know..ha someone could make one better then that.

Oh man.
Glad your relativly OK Bill.

Let us know what you may need to fix your bike.
I may have some parts as well.
