Ride it like you stole it!
Hello Do The Ton! I used to have account on here of my old motorcycle built, a dual sport cafe project out of a 1975 Yamaha DT250, but i lost the info on the account and cannot retrieve it. ANYWAYS, I ended getting into a bad wreck totaling the bike and leaving me unscathed. Now, Im back at it again with a new bike, a new idea and a whole lot more cash than i did for the last build. I plan on recording my build progress through out the next few months to come.
The bike I'm starting with is a fresh out the barn, 1972 Honda CB500four! Yes, yes, I know " Another cb500 build..yadda yadda yadda" I dont care, this bike has been my dream motorcycle since I was 13 years old and saw one all done up for the first time. I plan on making a fairly simple, yet in its own way unique, street cafe build.
I picked it up off a guy on my local Craigslist for a whopping $375! The speculations however, are it has no title only a bill of sale. I did a little homework on the bike and found out through my local DMV that the bike was no-op'd in the early 80's and was put in a barn along with another 1974 Honda CB500T with that really bitchin hard-to-find tank with the knee dents. The bike has NO BACK FEES AT ALL! That was music to my ears and its only gonna cost under $120 to get the new plates, title, and transfer of ownership. Let me also add that I'm 18 years old and will need lots of help from you experienced older Honda guys out there.
The bike is about 98% complete (I don't have pictures of em, but i got two boxes of parts for it including the rear fender, headlight, shifter, etc. The only things i need to resurrect this old gal again is a set of carbs which my co-worker said he might have an extra set of for me(fingers crossed there!) and a triple tree top end.
Here are a few pictures of the bike as it was in his garage yesterday after noon.
