Greetings from the Belleville/Kingston area! (Ya that's Ontario folks!)

HolyRoller

Been Around the Block
Hey. I hail from Belleville Ontario.

New to DTT but been reading and researching for quite a while.

Have two projects in the wings. One is more immediate... its a 78 GS750 Suzuki. Looking to build a brat/café bike. The other is a 83 XV750 Yamaha and looking to build something similar to Doc Chops Café bike.

2014 should be a fun year! *though I highly doubt I will have either bike finished by the end of the year!

I am looking for and will be in great need of the collective wisdom to be found on DTT. So please be gentle! and thank you in advance!

Attached are pics of each bike stock and what I would like to see a proximity of when finished.

Anyway... nice to meet you all. :D

I will post pics of what MY actual bikes look like when I get some more pictures put together.

Love both bikes for a build. I always think the V twin a hard design for a Brat/ Cafe bu i have seen some good ones. I put a pic of my GS850 Street Brat.

Just a caution about the Safety Certificate unless you have an understanding mechanic who will sign off on some of the mods. I now recommend getting eh safety and ownership in your name prior to too many modifications.

I am in Cambridge Ontario BTW. periodically get our your way, will contact you if i am on the road.

I actually love 'the County'... my grandparents lived in Waupoos for years. I loved heading down to Sandbanks to hit the beach and the orchards. Now its all winery country down there. Geriatric and pricey!!!

Orangeville is a nice area too. I have a cottage just south of Bancroft so I am not keen to move to far from the Quinte area.

That said, I spent about ten years in Japan and UK... so nice to be back on Canadian soil.

Hey that is really unique bike. Did you do that work yourself or did you buy the bike like that? What exhaust do you have on that beauty?

Hey Kamn.... I hit Whitby often as I have a friend who is in the legal profession there. I like it far better than Oshawa to say the least. When I get my GS finished I will defo head that way and give you a ring!

By the way... this is what my GS looks like atm....

Looks like you are knuckles deep into the GS. They are a great bike!
Lots of great riding down your way. Waupoos is smack dab in the middle of what we called a Horn Trip, the road is a bit rough at the moment though.
We have one of our Kawasaki triple rallies in Tweed every year, if you are ever up that way, you'll want to checkout Flinton Road, it's probably one of the finest roads that I've ridden on a bike on!

I do all the work myself. This winter I have had the Pipes re ceramic coated, and that paint is a rattle can, but now the tank and fender are out at a pro shop getting the same colour on it, new decals, and then the clear coats.

The muffler is a MagnaFlow 2 1/2 in 2 1/2 out straight through stainless. i have a custom baffle, the compound curved pipe from the 4 into 1 is thickwall stainless cut and welded curves.

pics of the SS muffler baffle.

Okay, now you are really hitting close to home! I live in Belleville now, but grew up north of the city about ten minutes drive from Tweed in a little hamlet called Moira. I can't remember ever driving on Flinton Road but I do know where it is. Great info.. thank so much.

Now if I can only get a bike on the road so as to enjoy that road!

Welcome to dtt :) Checked out your build thread. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hi Haircuttergirl... thanks for the welcome. I am looking forward to getting the GS back together, I used to ride it 15 years ago when it was my dad's daily bike. I was in my late teens then and thought the GS was one of the ugliest bikes ever created. It seemed so long to me. I rode a GSXR750RR at that time and thought I was the 'cat's pajamas'. Anyways.. the bike sat for a while... then... well... my brother got his hands on it. Picture says it all...

Good news is my dad is a mechanic, we are farmers and used to fixing things, and I love puzzles! I have been rebuilding two-stroke dirtbikes since I was a kid, but I haven't done anything this big yet. Really enjoying the challenge! I am hoping to dump some money into this bike and really do something nice to it (but not TOOOO much money!)
