Re: GS550 - Giselle (Glamour Shots from the first Real Ride!)

love open triangle subframe!!!

looks real nice....
i want to run open rear wheel like that aswell im just worried about all the shit flicking onto the filters n rear of the motor....
let us know how it is after 1000miles/k's???

cheers mate

Re: GS550 - Giselle (Glamour Shots from the first Real Ride!)

Easy enough. Passed the 1k Miles mark today ;D! On some dusty, dirty farm roads, too. Barely any of the dirt seems to have made it to the filter area. Unless I'm riding in the rain or mud, I don't think it will be a problem.

That said, I am putting together a decent looking rear fender over the summer. Gonna hit a track day, and will be running velocity stacks instead of filters. Wanna be extra careful with the carbs exposed.

Re: GS550 - Giselle (Glamour Shots from the first Real Ride!)

Love the way you did the seat. My dad wants a gs750 so I showed it to him. He liked it too. Good job!

Re: GS550 - Giselle (MORE PICS ADDED!)

Tank and seat are nice and shiny. Why does the empty middle and lack of rear fender look all wrong on that bike? I'm not sure why, but it looks incomplete. Maybe it's the solid looking motor and seat and nothing tying them all together.

It would benefit from a rear fender for practical reasons and I think that neat side panels - maybe CF replicas might pull the different design elements together in a more integrated way.

Re: GS550 - Giselle (MORE PICS ADDED!)

every time i see this bike i like it more and more, awesome work mate. maybe a piece of tinted black Perspex for the engine/mud guard space would be the only thing id add.

Noted. It's funny, the empty middle was something I worked for and really enjoy. To each their own, I suppose. A rear fender is in the works. Can't have it slinging pebbles at the velocity stacks when out at a trackday. ;)

Thanks, really. I kinda feel the same way. :D

What's perspex?

Re: GS550 - Giselle (MORE PICS ADDED!)

if you check out this link it will sort of show you what i mean:
http://us.deuscustoms.com/the-cb200/

Perspex is like a plastic that’s normally clear but you can get it tinted. if you look at the rear pics of above bike. i think the one above is made from metal but Perspex is lighter and clear so it looks cooler.

the pic shows where i mean anyways to protect engine from dirt etc :)

Re: GS550 - Giselle (MORE PICS ADDED!)

i love this bike!

i worked hard for open rear space,
so i also appreciate i sidecoverless rear triangle with nothing but frame-rails!

looks really good.

Oh yeah, like Lexan. I thought of doing something like that, even mocked it up out of sheet. Think I've settled on a swingarm mounted hugger/fender. I'm sure I'll get around to it in the next month or so...

Re: GS550 - Giselle (MORE PICS ADDED!)

that would look good too. a swing arm mounted one. you will have to through more pics up when you do.
