Heres a a couple ??? of pics of the donor non runner caferacer to a RC181 HONDA rep ,2yrs of blood sweat n beers agh , time to think of a new project ,idea's & answers on a postcard please haha
Oh boy back from the classic TT ,already getting sorted for next year, best time ever great bikes great crowd great riding met a couple of the DTT gang (UK Mark with the Weslake wow what a bike top quality sounds & looks fantastic). It was hard work riding round on the old Honda she sounded awesome and bloody fast too god knows how they did it for 6 laps back in the day.
I only made three in a row then overheated / de-tuned herself at the Ramsay hairpin also day before cracked a footpeg hanger so rode one footed down into Douglas harbour for a quick re-weld yeah, may have fraggled my electrics cos they didn't disconnect my battery etc agh! everyone so bike minded its easy to get owt fixed or a lift back to camp when you breakdown .The old Honda turned plenty of heads and certainly got a lot of attention up at the grandstand never had so many pics taken at least I got to spread the word about DTT new members here we come !! so all in all a great week thanks to all that helped to keep the old girl running and getting me back to camp for running repairs hers a few pics of what I got up to from loading the van to getting the usual TT breakfast at 6-15 am in "THE CAFF" & set up on camp with my Swiss neighbours haha
So once sorted back at camp it was time to get the hammer down fired her up and flew up to the cregg then down to grandstand heres a couple of memorable pics of the old girl on the most iconic bike track in the world !
She certainly was bud, it was a brilliant experience mate every type of bike size n shape & finish didn't matter everybody just loving owt on two wheels and that was just on campsite haha ,was able to give it the full beans mate without noise police tugging me or for speeding haha (would be brill to have a DTT members camp get together over there for some ride-outs with beer n barbeques on a night ) the course came right past camp so just sat on the banking as they shot past got some great footage will post the vids up you cant believe the speed n how close they get to ya
Well, you have built a fantastic bike and you deserved to have such a great weekend. The same goes for yorkie as well, great bikes and the cool guys that built and rode them, hats off to you guys!
Gotta admit I did its only worth collecting egg's in no real protection, wish I had taken my full face got a little fed up of chewing green fly too next time ile be prepared ???
Hi all, well thanks to all those who voted for the "RED HONDA " stoked I ended up winning and a prize to boot been in touch with DCC and theres a bundle of goodies on there way(sweet).
So now the pics are taken gonna do a couple of mods to the old girl , first a bit of a polish ??? then got my 2nd hand oil cooler from Milwaukee cycle parts in USA fast post / great price and a quality item, came off a cb650 nighthawk and with a bit of fettling got it back up to a decent finish also gave it a flush out, so will be dropping oil & fitting a new filter in with the extended filter casing bolt ,got to make a fixing point to frame on bike to secure the cooler seems like a bolt on upgrade to oil system (hopefully ), two things ime gonna keep an eye on is the oil getting up to the head ok and the wonder about the extra oil required , might have to do a little suck it n see to find right oil level ??? heres a couple of before & after pics of what I got in the mail
Hi all well back from IOM for second time in a month this time for a classic car rally yup four wheels not two went to support a team from Japan they ship over 4 mini coopers one from each decade and all the gear and mechs awesome people won the spirit of the rally trophy got all 4 cars to the finish coming 3rd 5th 6th and 7th in there categories looking forward to next year here's a couple of pic's with four wheeled race stuff .
As you can tell ain't done much with the ( red Honda ) still to fit oil cooler but now got all the bits together so any day soon fingers crossed, hope that the original oil pump will do the the job i've been told its same as the 550 nighthawk as is the oil cooler itself ? but any one with more info would be appreciated so as soon as I start the task I will get some pics and updates rollin keep tuned peeps .
Just finished reading through the entire thread. What a journey! Great work!!
It always amazes me when people make their own parts. I really want to get into that once I get my own workshop. Either way you did a very nice job on the bike and congrats again on winning BOTM!
Might hit you up once I get the workshop going for some advice on tools and machines needed to fab parts. Thanks again for sharing the process 8)
Cheers bud seems a long time ago already ha ,always look at other builds and wish I done this or that or used different colours.
