'Hamasaki' formerly known as the '82 KZ305 cafe racer - first build

Rustyhama,

What a fantastic build! I know your not the first to build a cafe out of something other than a CB, but way to think outside the box. Your entire build is such a perfect inspiration to my recent purchase of a KZ305. I was able to pick mine up so cheap that I would be kicking myself if I had not slapped a couple hundo's down in exchange for the bike.

Now my build starts... I do have a question (more like a few) / favor to ask. Would you be able to take some detailed pictures of your seats "Z" mounting system? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to keep the seat nice and secure. As well do you have foam on the sides of your seat or just the seat material is wrapped down the sides? Oh and how did you fasten / attach / adhere the foam and seat material to the fiberglass? I guess I'm asking, how much for your seat? ;D

Thanks for posting your first cafe build for the world to see!!!
James

I've just stumbled on your build while checking out new posts. My kz550 is sitting there like a big ugly lump in my tiny garage. Maybe I'll give her a little love soon. I'm glad I read your build; lots of good work and videos that would help anyone build their first cafe.

Love this. Great to see the journey from shed to show bike. I joined the forum to get inspiration for my 1983 z750 ltd and yours is the first I've commented on. Loads of CB's on here which look good but glad there's a Kawasaki on here to give me some ideas. Thanks and well done
