Harness help please

I'm a dummy. Accidentally ordered the wrong wire harness loom. Have a new loom for a '73-'75 and have a '76 engine in a '73 frame. Any way that I can make it work (modifications) or will I need to send it back and exchange?

Cheers.

It would be helpful to know which bike you're talking about, but the quick and easy answer is that you likely can make it work. Changes in wiring harnesses over time can be connectors, different rectifier/regulator set ups, etc. The question is how much of a pain it would be, and would it be worth it.

+1. Also helps to know how much of a dummy you are. Did you order a 73 Honda harness for a 76 Kawasaki engine?

Devil is in the detail and you gave none.

Yeeee-ouch! :-\

I deserved the flaming . . . I'm not only a dummy, but also a noob.

Sorry, I thought I included it - was in a rush and copied (part of) an original post.

CB750
Frame is a '73, motor is a '76. Harness ordered was for a '73-'75 (interchangeable between years).

How different would it be? Looking at the switches, etc and it seems like they used the same ones on the '76.

Again, thanks for reading and help.

Cheers.

That wasn't flaming, that was gentle ribbing.

I know from experience that the earlier Cb750 wiring harnesses (69-71? 72?) are slightly different than the later ones, but it's mostly in terms of style of the connectors. I think you'll find you can work with it, but I will let someone who's had later model CB750s chime in if they have a better idea as to the differences.
