HCI retro discontinued?

This was posted last September on the enfield Forum by Kevin Mahoney (I think that's his name?);

"It is late in the evening and can't answer your question directly. However they are only temporarily out of the market. I talked to the owner of HCI personally last week. He has an interesting dilemma. He has his helmets tested independently from the manufacturer. Probably a good idea since they are from China. Anyway the testing agency informed him that the most recent container failed a key penetration test. He did what any good businessman would do and stopped selling them and started a re-call and then contacted the DOT. Here is the part that should make you feel good about your government, They told him that he could not issue a recall until the letter was approved by them. They told him to send them 5 helmets for their own testing which he did. That was weeks ago. They told him that they will only move as fast as they feel like moving. In the meantime there are consumers with potentially defective helmets out there that can't be recalled until those that we pay to protect us decide to do their job. He was very exasperated. We only have a few left and we think that they are not part of any potential re-call. We will stick with this guy until it is resolved and intend to restock when they are available after his recall is approved by the govt."

That's been a while, and I haven't heard anything more recent.
Have to say, they are more comfortable for my oval-shaped head, but not as well made as Davida either.
(a lot less $ though)
Any leftovers on eBay?

A shop in Toronto still has them. I've always had my suspicsions about the DOT approval on HCI bowl lid. It's just not a very substantial looking helmet.
