header length

Ideally headers should be of identical length, but what if this isn't possible? What kind of issues/performance problems can occur? and if not of equal length is there a workable different length, like one doubled? I'm applying this to a cb350 twin that I wanna 2into1.

equal length means that both pipes resonate at the same revs and will theoretically acheive max torque at that RPM. In the real world we need a wider powerband. Unequal headers mean that both cylinders peak at slightly different times, so making the powerband wider.

In reality you would be lucky to measure the difference let alone feel it. Are intake lengths optimized, will you be using latest technology exhaust canister design? NO? well I don't think a few inches difference in header length will be a big deal. Do what works and looks right.

Back in the day BSA fitted the GGS (rocket Gold Star with siamesed pipes (that's two into one in new speak) and lengths were far fro the same. Everyone praised the bike for the fat torque curve.

Thanks for the tip. I wasn't too concerned with uneven length as it was next to impossible to achieve but looks like a calculated compromise isn't required either. Also I apologize that I posted this here, I think its the wrong forum

I (with absolutely no authority) will allow it. Simply for the Coheed reference.

Make them the same length. A CB350 should be easy to do. If you can make the headers making them equal should be fairly simple? I particularly like two into one headers and have made a couple of sets thus far. A CX 500 Honda and XS 650 Yamaha. You could make them finish with a "staggered" ends to keep the length equal and still have a cool look. The merge collector plays a big part in flow when combining tubes. Picture is of the CX500 equal length with a leading cylinder of about one inch, ceramic coated mild steel.
