Hell For Leather's post on Fox's 'coverage' of Peter Lenz's crash

screw that. He understood, and im sure his parents understood the risk. no kid who races on that level doesnt understand the risk.

I'm sorry, but this woman has no idea what shes talking about. theres a risk.... more kids die swimming in their parents pool each year then racing in a proper, regulated event. the woman was insensitive, and to say the least, uneducated about the sport.

Good points raised in the article for not getting antzy. Sure, its a childs death and that will always be tragic, but as long as he was racing for himself (ie not being pushed by over zealous parents) then I don't see why the sport should be demonised.

Yes, racing can be dangerous. Yes, people accept that. Yes, its a tragedy.

No, it is not a common occurance. No, racing should not be 'banned'.

I find it hilarious that FauxNews would lead this charge with all their banter about personal freedom of choice, etc. Seems like some people only want the gub'ment out of your lives when it's convenient for them. What a sham ('e' omitted by personal choice ;-)).

I hope everyone who reads this has followed links and voted?
I just did, including signing up to leave comment
Reading what happened, someone else may not have been paying enough attention?

Voted yes 15 or so times... I was trying to push it up to 49% but I didn't make a dent (48.6%)

It's all irrelevant though, Fox News will always be Fox News, you can't change the crap that they are by disagreeing with them, they don't care. Not only is the survey question leading, but the answers are too. They've got a viewership that wants to hear what they say, so they'll keep saying it.

Do you mean the kid that hit him? He was 12......and he has to learn to live with the "guilt" of killing his buddy.

I'm a dad and I'm taking my 7 year old on his first MX camping trip in a month or so. I know my boy is "conservative" with risk-taking so I know he will be OK. Still doesn't stop me or his mum worrying about "what if"........

But I wouldn't want him to be on a road circuit at 13. That, in my opinion, is too young.

As for the news story and it's witch-hunt on road racing.....that's just shitty journalism. It's everywhere ::)

One thing seems to be missing from these discussions. Some kids may not understand the risks involved, but this young man certainly did! He missed most of last season after a serious accident that required several surgeries to repair a severed radial nerve and several broken bones: tibia, femur, fibula just above the boot line and humerus just above the elbow.

Most people would have stopped racing after that, this young rider and his family came back and continued to pursue a dream.
