HELP: Broken Kickstart Shaft on my 360

Guys, so like the title says the kickstart shaft broke/snapped this weekend when an overly excited friend was trying to kickstart my bike from cold. It broke right where the lever attaches to the shaft. Only thing left on the bike is the splined/ribbed piece of the shaft. I know the best thing to do is to replace the shaft with a new one but are there any other alternatives? Can I have it welded back together? Anybody have a similar issue? Thanks, guys.

No you can't repair the shaft. A welded shaft will never be as strong as the original and will snap even easier. You'll need to find a replacement. You'll need to pull out the motor to replace it but the bright side is you don't need to take apart the top end, just the bottom half of the crankcase.

holy shit!!.. How big was the guy trying to kick it?...350lbs???!!..

yeah.. Like DrJ said, you are gonna have to pull it out anyhow if you are gonna weld it. May as well put in a full piece...
Off to ebay you go...

Yeah, I figured there wouldn't be an alternative ... anyone have a write-up on how to do this? I don't know anybody who's done this before and I sure don't have clue. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, guys!

Id start by looking at the Honda Parts manual for the exploded view of that section.
Let me know if you need it. I can put it on to an FTP server for you to download.

Here you go Jon...
You have 7 days to download it from the FTP server then it gets automatically deleted:
