just out of curiosity, why are you registering a parts bike? Do you plan on using the frame?
Here in Indiana I found out a bill of sale outweighs the title, we can get the form from the BMV or online. I walked in with a signed title and they handed me a blank bill of sale to get filled out from the guy who sold it to me.
if sc is anything like nc - good luck. find out what you have to do in your state.
in nc the options would be
- find last known title holder and get them to fill out an mv4 acknowledging you as the new title holder. but dmv won't tell you who that person is without a little cash.
- get a bonded title
- get someone in a state like michigan to register the bike for you. then have them "sell" it to you and get it registered in sc. nc doesn't accept a bill of sale unless the bike is coming from a state that doesn't use the title.
thanks for the help guys. Yea I bought the bike from a guy off creigslist...go figure. The thing is it is in ment condition, it was only missing a few small parts to be a complete bike, the thing is the guy would not give me a bill of sale because in sc it is illegal to sell a vehicle of any sort without title. I have no clue what i will do. Can i get a kit car title? How do i get a bonded title?
