Help me build my hubby's shop!

If it rains like it is supposed to I will take some pictures of the shop, other wise I will ride the dog crap outta my bikes. Frikken tired of shitty weather.

Not that it will help its mess, but it cleans quickly.

Between 12 gauge garage and my girlfriend popping in the garage, I've really seen the value of staying organized in the garage....of course, every once in a while the wrench I was JUST using still grows legs and hides.

For a gift card, you likely can't beat Harbor Freight for value. There's always something useful there, and things go on sale etc. so there's a good time and a not so good time to buy the particular thing he might need.

Another nice, inexpensive thing to do is paint on the walls. Not sure what your situation is, but I know in my case I could really use a couple days in the garage to take EVERYTHING out, paint the walls, and put everything back in. Would really brighten up the space. Sadly I don't have a 100 year old barn with awesome old beams and planks to look at. Just plywood on the insulated walls, so a coat of white paint would be better than what's there now.

As a guy who owns an automotive business I have to go with the guys that said to do the shopping with him. Having a harbor freight card is great, and so is lowes, but too often the absolute best things you can have for the shop are deals that fall in your lap, or that you stumble upon on craigslist.

Perfect example is my lathe. I was looking for something small to replace the old 9" southbend I had been borrowing from a friend. Found a 12" gear drive Logan with a ~36" bed on CL with no price listed. I emailed them and asked how much, they said $500. Needless to say I rushed up there to look at it (1 hour drive). It was a big machine shop that was making room for more CNC stuff. Next to the Logan was a 17" South bend with a 6' bed. I asked them how much they wanted for that one, cause I might know some people interested (thought it was too big for my shop). The next day I was carrying both lathes home on my trailer.......$1000 total. I ended up reorganizing my shop to make room for the big southbend and selling the Logan for $1000. I now have a giant killer lathe that only cost me a forklift rental.
