I am working on a friends cl350 and I am trying to adjust the points but there is absolutely no marker on the stator to adjust them, has anyone else had this problem?

Looks like an aftermarket stator. If it were mine, I'd find TDC and mark it myself. I wouldn't do this if I wasn't absolutely confident though.

There is only a tiny mark on the 350 stator. it will be around the 11:00 o'clock position.
If stator was re-wound it could be on the back side.
It's easy enough to remove a spark plug, find TDC and make a new mark.
I downloaded pic to enlarge it, I don't see any marks either :(

Yeah I had a 350 like that.
I just used a razor blade to mark the stator at TDC.

you need the stator mark for setting timing with a strobe but there is a hash mark on the points cam for setting gap
and if you are making a tdc mark it really should be done with a positive stop method in order to be accurate enough

Gap doesn't do any good to statically time the bike.
You need the stator mark to get it statically timed so it will run well enough to get it timed with a light.

agreed to a point , i have never had to use static timing when replacing points ,gap them and then the light for full advance, done
but you gotta have a precise tdc mark to set full advance timing

would I take off the spark plug and put a straw or something to find tdc? and which piston am i finding tdc for since they aren't synced?
or what method would you guys use? and ill double check and make sure its not on the backside.
Thank you all for your replies!!

Sync? You can't adjust the crank without splitting it apart with a multi-ton press.

Both pistons will be 180° apart. When one is at the top, the other is at the bottom.

the positive stop method or a long extension on a dial indicator is the only way to find precise tdc that i know of and both are quite simple procedures
i am sure there are many tutorials online, you just have to be sure and use a bit of a skinny positive stop i think so it don't bend a valve

I use a dial indicator in an old spark plug. Just like timing a 2 stroke.
