Help on buying a bike... 1971 honda 325?

I have found this bike, apparently a 1971 Honda 325 cc (cb350?) model b35 body type rs (this seems like some new terminology to me)

I'm wondering if this bike has been modified:
- exhaust looks different
- rear shocks dont have that cap style over them, instead it's an entire spring
- front forks have springs, once againt that cap/collar piece doesnt seem to be there (which I believe was colour matched)

Other things that seem to be missing or damaged:
- air filter covers
- seat
- rear light fixture appears much smaller than others I have seen
- chain guard seems to be missing

Is this supposed to be electric start, or just kick-start only?

What should I be looking for if i should be considering this bike at all? Is this a mish-mash of parts? or a model that I'm unaware of?

OR.... am i being duped by a different tank or something?

Kind a motorcycle noob (ive been into VWs my entire life, but i'm new to motorcycles)

Thank you in advance,
George

Definitely looks like a project bike.......there is an electric start - front of the motor. And the rear wheel had been swapped. Should be an 18" rear. And the front end is from an early model. What year is stamped on the neck?

I wouldn't buy that bike unless it was cheap, and I had another one to use for parts.......

It's a 71 with a rare colour. If paint is good I'd leave it alone. Mufflers, tail light, handlebar and tweak bar (the brace on top of the fork springs) are not stock. Odd thing is the rear rim is a 16" drop center, most likely from a Harley. But it would have 40 spokes rather than the standard 36 so I'm guessing the hub is from a CB450. Missing airbox sidecovers if you care.

from what i can tell yours has a different seat, mufflers, tailight, and handlebars than stock. it's missing the front and back turn signals, the side covers, fork covers, rear shock covers, chain guard, grab bar and rear pegs. I'd get the right rear wheel also, as mentioned above, it is not the standard one.
cb350 parts are really easy to come by and fairly cheap because they made a ton of them. whether or not you want to buy it i guess would depend on how much time and labor you're willing to put into it, whether or not it has a title, and how much the guy wants for it.

I'd put money on that bike having a king and queen seat, sissy bar, and mini apes on it at some point in its life.

Bottom line: what's the price?

Is the engine seized? Does it have compression? Are there any obvious oil leaks showing?

I'll buy bikes if I think I can part them out and make my money back if there's something terribly wrong with them.

Where are you located man? $650 where I'm from would be considered way too much......but maybe not where you're at.

Yup. I from where Rich is from and with a title in running shape that's MAYBE a $500 bike in its present state.
