I think the name says it all. Recently acquired a 73 CL 175 and need to adjust the timing (and would like to do valves at the same time), only problem is I cant get the valve covers off to save my life.
Luckily they're not stripped so I can get a good grip on them.

Tried:
a wrench..
tapping on and around the cover with a hammer
loosening then tightening then loosening and tightening. no luck.

looking at ordering some bolt loosening spray. you guys got any recommendations?

I'm not familiar with the 175, but if there's room to get a socket on them, I would suggest a socket and long breaker bar would do the trick. Although if the bolts are seized you wouldn't want to snap them.

I'd say us a torch but if it's on the bike that may not be wise. Be careful because those caps will break.

Long bar for leverage -- but I've also learned that if they don't come out and strip, it's easy to take them off by chiseling off the outer edge of the cover (outside of the o-ring so bits don't drop inside). Once you've got some of it chipped off they'll turn off, and just replace with new.
