Ok, so this is a purely unnecessary modification, but I want to do it anyways. I'm a complete Honda nut with my other cars being a '00 S2000 and an '08 Civic Si sedan. Both Red. I want to borrow some modern technology and implement it into the bike but Im admittedly electrically retarded, so I need some help.
I want to put this:
Somewhere. It's the Engine Start button off of the S2000. Ideally somewhere around the idiot lights in the "cockpit" area of the bike. Now, the switch is not small, which might make this difficult. I could also look into installing it into the headlight bucket.
Here is a wiring diagram I found for the switch:
What I need help with is the wiring on my '76 Honda CB360T to get this bad boy fired up. Any help would be appreciated and Ill buy you one e-beer once everything is done!
I have a push start on my 360. HEad over to my build thread and you can see how I wired mine in. YOu have a on/off, key, etc in the mix? How long is that switch? The angle of the photo makes it really long looking! Might be hard to cram that sucker in the bucket. Any way you can take it out of that housing and chop it down a bit?
Its probably 4" long or so. I dont have it yet but I think I just need to find the two wires in the plug that are the momentary switch and plug it in. It should be too difficult, IMO. Ill check out your build thread. Thanks!
Hey robot, do you have a link to your thread?. My plan is to use a toggle to replace the key part of the ignition and to use an auto ignition in place of the starter button. Why? Just cuz
Ok, so I got the button in finally. Few questions. The above diagram shows the button wired to a relay. Now, I also found the below chart, which does not use a relay.
And in this pic, you can see the backside of the switch. It has TINY connector. Now, Im stupid, and didn't get the pigtails along with the button. Is there any other way I can connect to the button?
I'm unsure about this whole topic with the relays and stuff.. The pic where you talk about pigtails (wtf are those?) says the button is 12v. Just make the red/yellow and black wires connect to the positive and negative of the switch. In your first pic, the button is connected to the sigarette lighter. Thats a whole lot-o-amps. The housing is plastic i guess so that would be ground and 12v. Done deal.
The pigtails is the wiring harness you can see on the right side of the last picture. Right now, all I have is the switch itself which is difficult to affix wires to since the prongs are TINY (You can see them barely sticking out in the last pic).

Don't ground the starter solenoid. The 1976 CB360 is wired differently then the 74 and 75. Check the oem schematic. I can send it to you if you don't have the late model schematic.
The starter solenoid just needs 12V supplied to it.
In addition the stock starter switch disconnects the headlight.
there is a way to do this, but none of the ways you are showing wil result in a start, and may only burn out the switch. A fire is also possible.
You need to put a volt/ohm meter on the switch and find out exactly what is connected and disconnected when you push the button. Then you can figure out how to wire it properly.
