HEY!! what's stopping you??!! no seriously Master Cylinder replacement question

grummble grumble
does anyone know if these master cylinders are metric knockoffs or standard knock offs?

is there a difference? i have been searching for a good MC that doesn't cost 80 bucks but i guess maybe i should buy a new generic one off ebay or the sloped resevior one from mikexs? anyone have that slope resiviour square one? or know a good place for a new MC that i can get parts for and costs like 60 bucks all i can find is ones that look shitty and are beat up.

who knows i just am tired of my unidentified honda MC leaking fluid on my hand and barely stopping me while biend large and rusty?

if i knew what it came off believe me i would have rebuilt it long ago.

who knows the best place to find a new slope res. MC?

There are really only 2 master cylinders, the rest is just 'style' (or 18, depends how your counting ;D)
single disc
dual disc
7/8" handlebar
1" handlebar bar
the bore sizes are pretty standardised in either 1mm increments or 1/16" increments, check what you have now..
the other thing to think about is the fittings.
metric fine thread
metric coarse thread
Imperial thread (inches)
Get bolt with master cyl and it wont be a problem

so as long as the bolt has the same thread as the MC then the banjo fittings on the fuel lines will all basically e the same? or at least the copper washers will fill the gap between the two?
cool thanks pj
also anyone know of good retailers? i have found lots but none are satisfactory. or should i just shut up about it and by a late model R6 nissin, buy a new lever and then maybe rebuild it? i def don't want to have crazy troubles looking for parts for my replacement. ill keep my eyes open..

If you take it off bars there is usually a size cast or stamped into rear (hidden by bar) it may be ttoo big for single disc, you probably want master cyl with half inch or 11mm piston to go with Honda single piston caliper.

Re: HEY!! what's stopping you??!! no seriously Master Cylinder replacement ques

there is a smooth new knockoff one that a guy sells out of miami on ebay.
lots of people use the larger (14mm) model on their bikes on sohc4 dot com but noone has said anything about the 12.7mm bore model.
hey if you say 1/2"=11mm is probably enough ill believe, you sure seem to like bieng right and you do it quite often so thanks and if i do order it ill let everybody know how it stops. plus its pretty cheap,, brand new, has a pressure switch in it and also it has a sloper resivior to keep my juice level while attached to my sloped clubmans.

thanks peeeeg btw nice machine work on the TT and rear hub. i may just be inspired to do some wheel cleaning up of my own if it ever gets cold here in NC and i pull the bike off the road

1/2" is 12.7mm.
11mm, being smaller should give better 'feel' but needs more lever travel.
You have asingle disc, single piston.
Bigger M/C piston will make brake feel 'wooden' (unless you intend to do a dual disc conversion?)
