just got me a project for the winter, its a 78 cb400t, paid $40 cuz its been sitting in a field for 12 years. never owned a bike or worked on one but in about 2 hours had the motor dropped and it half apart, already got the trans shifting through all 5 gears and the po said the clutch was stuck and the rear brake, well the clutch is fine but the brake is stuck stuck and the engine is froze been soaking the cyclinder in wd40 via the spark plug holes for about 2 days now. im gunna keep spraying it and hope i can get it to break free. i cant find a rebuild kit for it anywhere or another bike lol. but i have high hopes as the oil in the case wasnt sludge. the gas was way bad tho!! i guess i was just saying hi.

Athena makes a full gasket kit for the 400. You should still be able to get pistons and rings. Parts bikes are everywhere, If the bike has a title but the motor is toast, the 450 from 82-89 hawk, nighthawks and CM450's will bolt right in. I scored a replacement for mine for 150. they are a little better design with oil line to the head and oil cooler. Good luck. These are pretty easy first bikes to learn how to work on them. There is also links here to free PDF's of the clymers manual
Cheers,
