HID headlight questions

Been Around the Block
I mostly travel during the day but at night I like to stand out as much as possible living in a very highly populated metropolitan area. And doing a little research coupled with a some personal taste preferences I have decided to go with a 3000k(yellow) HID headlight. Currently my electrical system is factory with the exception of a bike masters 12v7a gel battery.

Question, additionally what will I need to sustain an HID headlight set up?

And follow up, if I DO choose to follow through with this HID swap is there any certain brand you would recommend?

I admit I haven't done much research yet, but was discussing my bike with a friend and he brought upn lighting and I told him my plan which brings me to the community seeking guidence.

Cheers

a standard 35W HID bulb wont stress the electrical much more than even if your bike only came with a 35W headlight.

go with these guys. i bought a kit from them for my SC300 after the PO butchered an install. these kits are OEM quality.

Did you do a full projector retrofit?

LED headlights are also becoming a lot more common. Many are almost as bright as HID, but consume only a fraction of the wattage.

True, but most LED lights are for off road use only, and in my state you cannot use LED lights as your primary headlight source (for whatever reason)

What all would I need for a HID conversion, and do I have to run a projector?
a project with the proper HID bulb is MANDATORY. unless you want something that blinds oncoming traffic and doesnt light the road.

heres a good write up on a how to. you can buy a cheap plastic round headlight and simply do the same thing he did, and get results like this.

I can vouch for theretrofitsource. I buy all my HID items from them and all 3 of my vehicles have their products. You don't need anything additional in adding the HID kit.

What type of headlight are you using? Pending on the type of halogen reflector lens, it may glare a lot or very little. As stated, it is recommended to do a projector retrofit.

I was going to use spare ballast and bulb I had laying around in my 7" DCC Euro light but decided not to for the time being. Granted, I mainly ride during the day so night time glare wouldn't be an issue.

8K HID, too much glare IMO

Looked at the Motoringunderground link. The bottom line was $445 for a pair of headlights. So figure $225 or so for a single....Not a great bargain....But it was a technically interesting piece.

that was more along the lines of how to do it rather than what he used. these are more on the budget end of HID's but will net nearly the same results.

Just for confirmation because ive searched a couple times and have been getting mixed results. Do the 75 cb/cl 360s use an H4 bulb? I am wanting to purchase my HID kit today and want to make sure I'm getting the right parts for my application

The cb360 used a sealed beam for all years.
