Honda CB100 Bucket Racer Project

I am building up a CB100 as my Bucket Racer (see link below for definition).

http://bmrc.co.nz/FAQs/What%20Is%20A%20Bucket.php

I picked up the CB100 as you see it, along with two spare frames, and a box full of parts all for $100.

Nice find! what are your plans? aside from the general plan of "Bucket Racer"? what is that anyway, never heard that before?

On further inspection of the frames, the roller is a 1972 CB100 K2, while the spare frames consist of one more 1972 CB100 K2, and a 1970 CB100 K0.

Which one do you think I should use as a base for the Racer? The 1970 frame (being the oldest)?

So this will be a bare bones bike, all function. Racing in the 100cc class by the way.

I'm thinking of stripping the frame and simply clear coating it, to give it a raw industrial race look.
How bright is the steel on the CB frame if stripped back?
Or maybe just good ol' matt black..

That looks like an absolute blast. Wish we had a track here. :(

It's actually the local Go-Kart track, so much smaller than a proper track, but perfect for these bikes.

Here's a pic of the SL Bucket Racer we are building for my mate.

We have put 17" CT-110 wheels on it (if you were wondering).

He will be running an XL100 motor.

Ok, so the earlier frame has a small ding on the front tube, so I'm going to use the roller. Seems logical anyway, as the bits are all there.

Enquiring about a TL125 tank off a guy who sells parts round my ways. I am assuming it will fit tunnel-wise?
They seem like a lighter tank, and if not, I would prefer the slimmer race look a TL tank would give I think..
(That's if he has a spare one)..

So I am using the roller. Gave it a degrease last night, whipped the exhaust off and put away in the dungeon.

Will move it to the garage soon and get stuck in.

Yeah I've been meaning to give it a go for ages. Finally making an effort.
Me and my mate are both building 100cc machines, so we can race in the 100c class.
The 150cc class is all full of FXR150's boo! boring..
We like being different though, hence the 40 year old Hondas! Keeping it old school cool!
I don't plan on riding like too much of an idiot, so will hopefully keep falling off to a minimum!

I live in Auckland btw..

Haha, we'll see if this holds true in the heat of competition. I very much doubt it.

My BIL said the same when he started bucket racing (he does it at Roys hill kart track in Hastings) and after 3 broken fingers a a dislocated shoulder (different events) he reckons it's too much fun not to go hard LOL.

Cleaned everything up with some degreaser. Oh and got the motor out. Slow goings. Still thinking.

(That's my muck around bike btw, a Yamaha TW200).
