I recently had a local bike shop replace the head gasket on my CB350. Now I'm trying to adjust the valves and the left side does not want to adjust. I cannot turn the adjusting screws at all. The right side is free and turns or adjusts easily with a screwdriver. The left side also does not have any compression. The right side does. I fear something was not put together right by the bike shop but can't imagine what that would be. Any suggestions? PS, I have already reinstalled the engine so I cannot remove the valve cover to inspect it.
Hat to say it, but youre going to need to pull that motor again. I cant say for sure what they did, but something is obviusly out of place. Cam installed wrong? Gasket shifted? You will have to pull that head and have a look see to be sure though.
Yep, I know it will have to come back out. CRAP, all I had left to do was put the tank and chain back on. CRAP, CRAP, CRAP and SHIT........Should have tried to adjust the valves first..........................Got a call in to the bike shop that did it. Had to leave a message. Haven't heard back yet.............. Be interesting to hear what they have to say about it.................Just my luck....... "SHIT AND FALL BACK IN IT!!!!!!!!" :'(
Honestly... Id bring the whole bike to them and make them fix it. Mistakes happen, so dont be a dick, but if it worked before they "fixed" it, than its on them.
Well I took the whole bike to the shop that did the headgasket. He said he would "Dig into it" and it shouldn't cost me anything. If the motor has to come out, he'll do it.... : . Bummer, cause I could be ridin' it by now........ I'm located in Maine and every ridin' day counts up heah, ayah.
GREAT NEWS!!!!! The shop just called and the problem is solved. The valve adjusters go through the points housing. He said he loosened up the points housing and the adjusters freed up and were able to turn as they should then he tightned the points housing back down and they still turned as they should. So the points housing had the adjusters in a bind so they would not turn at all...........PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!! Will be back on the road tomorrow.......
Well, I picked up the bike today from the bike shop and spent the afternoon putting the finishing touches on it. This is my son's bike and I've gone right through it to turn it into a cafe style CB350. The best investment was the Mikuni VM30's we purchased from Speedmoto Co.. They were already jetted correctly for the CB350 so I didn't have to do a thing to them. What a difference they make. It fired right up on the second kick and purrrrred like a kitten. It's back on the road again...........................
