Honda CB450N nitreous turbo

Glad to have you along for the ride. Trying to source some non OEM valves. Looking overseas at the moment. I knew this wasn't going to be easy.

I have a head or maybe 2 in my parts bin you can have for shipping cost, may come in handy for any ooops moments. Let me check tonight and see for sure, can't remember if they are 400 or 450 heads.

Slowly moving on. The guys that are rebuilding my head in town here had a hell of a time finding new valves and springs. Honda no longer makes them so these guys found a supplier in Holland of all places. I'd tell you what they cost but I get this sharp pain in my chest every time I think about it so I won't divulge that info. Other than that, all I have is a shot of my engine block prepped for blasting. I should be in the thick of things here pretty soon as Bonneville is just down the road a short while. Hope all is well with everyone.

Cheers

If the place in holland is Cmsnl.com I feel your pain and you need not say just how much, loving the build keep up the good work

sounds like a nice project. here's a pic of a turbo'd xs400 drag bike. I've tried to track down owner/builder to find out the spec but not turned anything up as yet

Dude... I hope you didn't spend too much. You gotta talk to use before you go dropping cash. ;D

Kibblewhite makes quality valves for the 450. You can get +1mm oversize (all four) for less than $200.
And spring conversion kit for the 450 from RD Valve Springs runs less than $350, too.

Matt, are you sure those valves are for the 80's paralell twin 450's not the 60-70's this is the engine from the Nighthawks and Rebel 450. CM CB hawks etc. Either way it is good to ask here first as someone will know a guy who knows a guy who can get you the parts for cost and some beer ;D

New year. New start. Still waiting on the head assembly to return. Been busy with other projects that make money instead of this project which only costs money. Building a platform to start with. Made it out of solid pine. Needs casters so i can roll it around the shop when I'm not working on it. I also media blasted the block. Here's a couple shots.

A good friend of mine who is helping me with the build has switched his GSXR from carbs to fuel injection. It works like a damn. He's using the system from Mega Squirt. I'll be following suite with the CB450 as well due to the addition of the turbo.

Moving at a snails pace but at least I'm moving.

Make sure you do something about the charging system. The 450 doesn't put out enough juice to run all the stuff needed for EFI.

Thanks much. I was wondering about that. I'm thinking of adapting something from the Kawi 500R?
