HONDA CG ENGINE SWAP.... CRF 230?

Hi All,

Ive been trying to do a bit of research in what engines will fit my CG...

A quite common answer was all old single hondas from the same era were derivatives of one another... for example the biggest i could get in would be a XL 185.

however looking into the new chinese models, i have seen these Lifan that fit the XL 185 so i assume they fit a CG?

moving on from that, the same Lifan model fits a CRF 230...?

does that mean a CRF 230 would fit a CG?

I'm following a guy on instagram that has a CCM 230 in a CG which is really nice. from all accounts the CCM and CRF are identical...

CRF 230? can it be done?

please can somebody help?

P.S. I'm doing this because i love this bike and dont want to part company, just want more poke. so please dont state the obvious 'buy a bigger bike'.

Looks possible....CB200 or CB 175 (twins) also have a similar looking motor ....Weld up some frame rails and drop a Ninja 250 motor in there.... Also check out Millennium Falcons XS400 build you'll be all over finding a big motor to shove in there

I did the Lifan OHV swap on a CB125 with no real problem. Had to make a top motor mount is all. I'm thinking the CG has the OHV style motor, too, doesn't it? Should be a bolt in deal if it is. The CRF230 looks like it could work, too. It seems to have the same style top mount, with the bole going through the rear of the cylinder head (versus the top like my CB125). If you can find one, I'd say go for it! The wife's bike will pull the font wheel almost every time you shift gears with the Lifan. The 230 would probably be almost scary. ;D
