Hooking up Manometer

Hot Rod Troy

Coast to Coast
I made a manometer finally. Now i need to hook it up to the carbs on my 360. I unscrewed the caps where I would hook it up and the hoses won't stay in place. I thought I could find some small diameter copper tubing and thread it.

Does anybody have a better idea? I can use all the help I can get.

I hooked up the meter yesterday and the right side tried sucking out all the oil. If I unblocked the left side it would die and plugging or plugging the right didn't seem to make a difference. The right side would bog down when under load at about 2500 RPM.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss.

Throttle plate is just about completely closed on right, it's running on left carb only and creating a real high vacuum on right side
When they are that far out it may be easier to bench sync them (just look at butterflies when on bench, operate throttle and see if they move together from fully closed)

just curious if you could show a picture of the manometer you made. i get what manometers are and have used one before(in college labs), but not in a tight space. just kinda curious what kind of fluid you would use it and what not. I'd rather not buy one, as i'm sure a lot of people make their own and are satisfied with them.

much appreciation.

I don't have a pic of it bt here is where I found it.http://www.powerchutes.com/manometer.asp I uset air tool oil as the fluid because it's light weight and if a small amount gets sucked in I don't think it will hurt anything. Hope this helps.

awesome, this is kinda what i was thinking, but reassurance is always best, i'm pretty far off from having to balance my carbs (bikes still in pieces in my living room) so this'll give me plenty of info and time to think how i want to do it.

thanks

Okay, so I hooked up the syncroniser when I did the right side began sucking all the oil out of the tool. The left side is drawing very little vacuum. I have tried adjusting the air screws and that makes no difference. The only thing I have changed is putting pods on. Is it possible to have a torn diaphram causing this? I'm not sure where to go from here. Does anybody know what other carbs will fit the CB360's?

Thanks,
Troy

Any luck with bench sync?
The adjuster screw between cabs may be screwed fully down, common (non-problem) problem.
I can get pics if you really need them

I adjusted the common screw between them so they both opened at the same time but it didn't make much difference. I only gained a couple hundred RPM before it started bogging down again.

Damaged diaphragms won't matter at idle, it's all on the throttle plates.
You have good compression on both cylinders?

Well, that's where it get a little fuzzy. I had the top half "rebuilt" a couple of years ago. The last time I did a compression test on it was after it had only a few miles on it and the compression seemed low, I figured that was because the the rings hadn't set yet. I haven't checked it since then. I will give it a check tomorrow. What range should I be in with with the 1mm overbore?

150~180 psi onj both cylinders, no more than 10% difference between cylinders (5% is better)

Okay, here is what I found. With the engine cold I had 50psi on the left and 90psi on the right. I have only put on a few hundred miles since it was rebuilt. Any ideas? ??? I may be tearing into this thing over the winter.

That's way low.
You did have throttle wide open when you checked?
Kick or electric?
I usually kick about 5~10 time or until gauge doesn't go any further

I fugured it was low too. I didn't open the throttle at all and I used the starter button. I did crank it untill the guage stopped going up. Are you supposed to do it WOT? I'll do it again this afternoon. Does it matter if the engine is cold or not?
