How do i get Harley wheels to fit my GSXR forks?

Anybody who know what needs to be done, or who can point me in the right direction on how to do this? I have seen Fatboy Wheels mounted on a old gsx With gsxr forks, but im stuck finding any info on how they did it. all i find is that New axles has to be made but surely that cant be all. Any help is apreciated.

You will have to get an axle machined I'm pretty sure as Harley use a 1" axle size and the GSXR axles are 25mm I believe. I know the GSXR's had 2 different types of axles but the axle diameters are the same.

You might be able to find some conversion wheel bearings that have the "standard" outer dimension and a metric inner dimension. Unfortunately as I've never sourced them myself, I can't tell you where to look, but I've been told there's a good chance they're "out there" somewhere.

but looks awesome 8) the picture is of a polish build that is alot like what i want to do. its was inspired from the wrenchmonkees` gorilla bike. i love it.

Looks great.....If you aren't going to ride the bike, that conversion is awesome...

The fat tires, no fork brace (Though USD Forks are stiffer than normal forks) , solid wheels, PERFECT MUSEUM PIECE...

You should keep an eye out for another bike, one that will be comfortable and safe to ride too... 8)

+1
I've been holding back my comments because it isn't my bike but I don't know why anyone would want to destroy all the good characteristics of a sport bike by doing that to it, other than the reasons Mydlyf pointed out.

Those bikes like that are such a mix...the USD forks are a handling Plus...the tires, bracing a minus....

Solid wheels are unsprung weight and sails, a minus....

No footpegs either, must be fun to shift....

The forks and paint and/or powdercoat is the only positive points on that picture. The rest is, well,

I never understand the desire to diminish performance for the sake of looks....There are MANY examples of good looking bikes that did none of the negative handling mods....

The real genius, IMO, is making a great handling, running bike that looks great too....

Well, the picture is not off the finished project.(didnt say it was either)
The footpegs and all is now sorted, so its not an issue neither is riding without a front brace (who does that).
I really dont even care because its an illustrative picture only to give an idea towards what I want to do.
Really not that conserned with the wheels as far as wind beeing a problem and also funny that harley keep putting them on if they are such a problem(yes, i know the Harleys are heavier).
Who says it is impossible to ride and how do you know it wont ride well?
I bet that with GSXR front, Bandit rear and a set of good öhlins it will be good enough by a long shot for my needs.
Im fully aware of the wheels adding unfeatherd weight to the setup but seriously, i never planned on setting laprecords at the Nürnbürgring with it either.
This is neither going to be a bike that i commute with.
It is going to be a recreation tool only driven in good weather days on my favourite stretch of road close to home. :p

This post was also intended towards finding the solution to a problem, not a like/dislike thread.
Im already aware of the challenges, but i would like to find the solution to this problem so if you have an idea as to how its done im greatful.

Physics.

(Seriously though I'm considering wheel covers on my bike right now as well.)

You have got to be kidding, you're comparing a performance bike against the tractors made by Harley? LOL Harley's were not intended to be canyon carving sport bikes but more of a cruiser. Why don't they handle as well? Because they are massively over weight for their power ratio. You have probably added 40lbs to the unsprung weight of your bike and don't think that will negatively effect it's performance? Ya, you want the solution to the problem, but don't get your panties in a wad when experienced riders want to inform you of how wrong it is to do what you want. If all you want is looks, by all means do it. mIt won't be as fun to ride when you want to do what that bike was intended for. If you're happy with that I have no problem with it.

Then great you get my intentions. its not going to go fast.
I have other bikes for that. this will be good enough for its purpose, for me.
Performance bike? well, at one point in a distant past it might have had its ambitions, but to clarify im talking about an old gsx750e 1981 year model.
I could probably fit grindingstones as wheels and get better performance than what it is like right now. ;D
It rides like an ostrich in heat!
I also wrote i do not care about the performance. It will be a cruiser. I appreciate your concerns as to your standards it will not perform at your specs, but for me it will satisfy my deepest desires ;) (dont go there).
To further clarify, i meant no disrespect to anyone by simply stating what my intentions with this thread was, but if
your feelings got hurt by it i guess ill try to say "pretty please, with sugar on top", the next time. :) so back on topic. harley whels on gsxr forks - i want to sail them in the wind with all its unsprung glory 8)

i have read about those wheel covers too, but havent found much info about them. you got any link to it? it could also be a way to go if it looks ok.

Mooneyes is the easiest reference, they've made 'em for years.
