How much header wrap do you folks think I'll need to wrap the pipes on my KZ400 twin? I'm trying to figure out whether a 50' roll is enough or am I crazy and only need a 25' roll? I'm planning on going with 2" black wrap and painting my muffler black to match since the chrome has flaked on it.
25' should be plenty. I bought a 50' roll and did the header on my buell xb12r and the headers on my cb350 with it. If you buy black wrap plan on using some vht paint on it. The black wrap looks great until you run it a couple time then the black start so fade. The cht make the color last much longer'
+1 on painting them if you're after black. I bought the black wrap and after a few weeks I knew that I had to do something. I ended up using Krylon Grill and bbq paint. It looked absolutely fantastic... After about a year though, it has faded a bit. I didn't even notice until I compared pics right after I did it to recent pics. It still looks great and it's still black, but it has faded a good bit when compared to the pics. But the Krylon paint is much cheaper ($4.00 a can) and for me it was a good deal.

It is 2 inch wrap and I overlapped 1/4-1/2 inch. When I put it on I soaked it in water and pulled it as tight as I could so I think it "stretched" a little. I had a little left over but not enough to be useful.

Where'd you guys order from? I'm thinking about wrapping my KZ400 headers white oddly enough. I have an extra stock exhaust as well that is pretty rusted, thought about wrapping those headers black and painting the can black.
I'll probably end up buying off Ebay. I've found a 50' roll of black wrap with 5 or 6 stainless steel zip ties for $25.50 after shipping. I checked my local Oreilly Auto and all they had was white and it was $49.99 for a 50' roll.

eBay is the way to go. Here are the ones I bought

I plan on buying the ss cable ties at Harbor Freight because I know they have them there for cheap.
I am not totally sure, I kind of took a chance but I think it will be, as long as you only overlap a maximum of 1/4" which is what the person on ebay that I bought the heat wrap recommends in order to prevent hot spots. I think 25' is good insurance but I think I can do it with 20'.
That sucks, but I wonder if you could just buy the white and paint it black, they say the black fades real quickly anyway. But maybe the paint doesn't last very long either... I'm not sure, but its something to think about.
