How to lower a '72 CB350

Recently picked up a 72 CB350 and want to lower it ~2 inches. I assume for the rear I can just purchase some slightly shorter shocks, but was a little stumped with the front. The tops of the shocks bolt to the upper triple tree, so I cant just slip the shocks up to lower it. Any ideas? I've read about cutting the fork tubes shorter, but couldn't find any real information about doing this.

Thanks!
Stephen.

Just for reference, the front shocks are mounted like shown in this picture:

You have the early style fork that can't be pushed up past the top clamp. You could swap the entire front end with a later one, then push the tubes up.

i purchased some forks off a later model cb360 a 75' i think and those forks bolt right up (if you have a disk brake that is) and slide right in, my 72' cl350 had a disk brake so it was no problem. the 360 forks also don't usually have all the rust that 350 forks have under the lamp ear covers. i got mine on ebay for $50 shipped, the ones that came on the bike where rusted beyond use anyway imo.

Cheapest way is to pull them apart and fit spacers under damper rod then shorten spring a little ( not as much as spacer)
