I got pickpocketed last night...

Get one of these: Cactus Creek Money Belt.

Put it in front, under your tshirt & under your pants and over your boxers. The zipper would essentially be right behind your belt. Keep your passport, bank card, 1 credit card, and some large denomination currency (100EU bills). Then in another wallet, keep 1 credit card and your cash for the day or two and keep that in a pocket that is "tight". Not a khaki pants loose pocket but in a deep jean pocket where it's difficult to reach in.

That's more or less how I roll anywhere in europe or asia. Been to India, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, UK, Poland (da motherland!), Czech Republic, France... haven't been mugged or pick pocketed yet!

On another note, when in public transport places, try to limit your english speaking to a minimum, pre-plan your route so you know where the fuck you're going and you'll be set. Also, never ever rock a Canadian flag, that just screams American tourist. :p (edit: Not that there's anything wrong with being an American tourist, but it's not getting the point across that you're trying to make.)
