Been Around the Block
Okay so I'm going to be laying paint this weekend. And a couple of friends of mine (more in the show bike/bagger/Harley crowd) have been paying more and more attention to my little CL project. A few of the guys had mentioned painting my cafe bars to match the tank
My color scheme is as follows *for now*
Frame: semi gloss black (done)
Tank/Cowl: Metallic gold base with vintage white top coat and metallic gold pin striping
Rim/Spokes: currently stock chrome debating on painting the rims metallic gold

My bars are DCC clubman's and currently are a semigloss black (like my tank) should I leave them black? Paint them the vintage white? Or the gold? Or a subtle combo of both (carry the gold stripe onto the white bars?)

I say that's my color scheme for now because I really dont have a problem repainting the bike if I come up with a better scheme, painting is something I do myself and actually enjoy (although my seat color is locked in at a light tan)

i would wait til you have the bike together. if the bars look like they need some love, then you can always add paint, but repainting stuff what it was already painted isnt as easy.

Here's the bike so far mind you the seat is not fastened down to the pan so the slight gaps you see will be taken care of (just got done fiberglassing some sidepannels onto the tank will be painted this weekend)

Oh the bars are just stock 1 coat black it seems (they scratch very easy to bare metal) so I'm not concerned about the bars original condition (they need painted anyway) I'm just wondering if white Bars with a black triple and black frame will look odd. (Forks are original so far... Was considering a plastic dip "vintage gold" from dipyourcar.com for the rim and forks and the stock Honda badges I'm doing the lettering gold with a allumimum piping around the font and a black backer(to try and tie the from color into the tank)

I vote for keeping the bars black. Sounds like the lighter areas are going to be displayed more prominently. If there's too much lightness/detail, it'll draw the eye to too many areas... and will look too "blingy." Keep the frame, triple tree, and bars subdued and let the tank be the main focal point with the other light accents complimenting the tank. :) IMHO... FWIW :)

exactly what i was trying to say, just too drunk to elaborate.

I'd leave the bars black and paint the headlight bucket to match the tank.
