I want a different motorcycle.

"Against All Odds".
I have my 350 and its great!! i love the thing... the CB350 has treated me right ive put about 500 miles on her but i feel like i want something just a tad bit more peppy. I dont want anything that i cant work on though. i love old technology. What is a good step up for a guy like me. i weigh 175 and i'm 6'1''.
Can you guys tell me pros and cons of different bikes.

I feel like i'll be where you're at soon...
The way I see it is you've already worked a Honda Twin, so a 400cc+ Twin shouldn't be much different, I would think.
SOHC and DOHC is where I see some changes, but nothing you couldn't figure out.

What about some Yama/Suzu 2- Strokes? I'm yet to see one in AZ, but if I do, I think I'd take a 2 over a 4 for my next project.
Just something diff... But as a Second "first Bike" I'm hoping an RD350 even a 250, isn't to much for me to go WOT crazy on...

EXACTLY. I was just thinking about an RD350.
I love the whole "giant killer" aspect of them. But that might be a little too much as ive been reading. I heard Yamaha might bring back the 2 stroke rd350 though. Google it! :)

Another thought i had was to go for a 400 four cylinder or a 500 four cylinder Honda What do you guys think

I would agree bigger is good, but do not take this the wrong way i would not go bigger than 750 at your age man... and size.. CB750, look at some of the CB650's even the 500's rip! have you thought about re gearing your 350? if you do not ride a ton of HWY i would def recomend dropping a tooth in front will really wake it up!

Only reason i say do not go bigger than 750 is they get heavy after that, slow moving it aroudn the garage and shiz one misplacd foot and it leans wrong she is gonna go... plus more CC tends to be more power and you will get dumb... trust me i have been there... wait till you get a few more years under you belt on the road and build up to the 900's +... again blake not trying to slam ya at all bud, just wish i would have done it that way when i was younger... i jumped right into sport bikes... then went bigger and bigger... till i got dumb... 650's and 750s are awesome platforms and after you want more UMPH out of it, you can play wiht motor mods, and gearing and what not to get more fun out of it :)
have you thought about keeping the 350 and maybe going cruiser or something you can pop a lady on the back to scoot? I know when i was younger i had to sell one to get another one but not sure where you at on that... if you can pull it off the honda shadow 750 spirits are WICKED bikes man

really dig how your 350 came out!

I've been eyeing the CB550's as well.

What are the differences with the Twin's as opposed to the Four's?
I have noticed F's tuned sound glorious; I can assume the power comes on smoother?

The idea of a Sub - 550 Four sounds real appealing. Still nice and light.

Thanks!!! I was looking at the shadows.. those are a little out of the price range... :( what about a sv650? a cheap one.

I weigh a little less than you & am a little shorter, but I just got an RD250 2-smoker - so when I get it running I'll have to let you know how it is. That is my 'upgrade' from my CB200, so I feel ya'.

Whoa.. cb200 i don't see those too often :b

dude the SV650 and bandit 600's are some of the most under rated best bikes out there... flat out, blast to ride and you can do some distance... you can bet a 1st gen bandit 600s. for like 1200 -1800 bucks, my buddy just got a 2nd generation 600 (2002) for 1800 flat. SICK bike. drop a new gear in it and your golden... huge aftermarket world for street fighter'n it... or you can rock the fairing and tour on it with a chick on back... awesome bike... i speak so highly of them that 3 of my buddies now own one... the SV650 is just as nice man

How could you go wrong with a 750? You've been spoiled by the aftermarket support of the 350 so why go downhill :)?

CB 750's hard to beat on the support and there are plenty out there, cost may be a bit steeper, but you're a wrencher so get yourself a good title and a frame and go nuts. There are entire websites and forums dedicated to twisting up CB750s. Personally I want myself a DOHC F, but grab yourself an SOHC and you've just got two of what you already know and love.

So you'd say if i can get one under 2 grand in excellent shape go for it?

depends on what one... the SV or old school bandit i would say around 15 - 1800... for the newer bandits like 2001 or 03 2 g is a good deal

You're going in the opposite direction to me. I started on a 650 and have been buying smaller ever since (CB350 and MB5) :)

If you want to stay with a vintage ride, the KZ's are awesome bikes. I had a KZ650 and loved it. Very reliable and well built bikes. I now have a SFV650, brother to the SV650, and it is an awesome all-rounder.

Thanks HerrDeacon.
What do you think about the KZ400s?

I want to like big bikes, really I do but everytime I buy one and rebuild it and get it just right, I find it too be too large and heavy and just no fun. Over the years, the bikes I have had most fun with on the street have been around 350-400cc and are all twins. I did love my old Triumph 500s, but an RZ350 or a SOHC 400/500/550f are just a sweet spot for me.

Enough power for fun and light enough to flick around.

On the track, any 160- 350 is enough fun for anyone.

SV650 and Bandit are like old school type bikes - fun and reliable without expecting you to break the sound barrier all the time. Naked 600 Honda 4 Hornet? is the same sort of thing or that 650 Kawasaki twin.

The ultimate small fun bike is the RZ350.

I've never owned or ridden a KZ400, but would love to one day. From what I hear they are a good bike. Power wise though, its not going to be much different than your CB.
