Coast to Coast
My dad and I like old motorcycles, cars, and trucks. About 13 yrs ago, Dad bought a 1940 Indian Sport Scout out west from a friend, a complete basket case. I've wanted that bike since the day he brought it home. I would usually ask him about twice a year to sell it to me. Once I finished up my last project, I have dropped hints and asked him about it. A month ago, we talked about it, we both want it to be a period correct bobber. So on the phone, we built the whole damn thing in about 15 minutes. Today he sold it to me. It has a Vard front end with it, rare. I will use '36 Indian junior scout tanks on it, a cut down rear fender with Bates brand pillion pad, have it. Turbo X Belltron air cleaner for the Linkert carb, and Dad is going to stroke it from 45cu in to 57cu in by using 74" fly wheels. This will be a father-son project. He is 71 years old. Its been an emotional day to say the least. Once I find all of the parts at Dad's, I will have a build thread in the bobber section. YIPPY!!!!!

When my Dad was diagnosed with Cancer, he bought an old car for him, my older brother, and myself to fix up.
That was some of the best times we ever had.

Good on you and your Dad, and best of luck with the project.
I can't wait to see the build come together ;)

so cool. Nothin' better than working on a project with yer dad. Unless it's with your own kids ;)

enjoy.

Man keV! This is awesome in soooo many ways! What an awesome bike!
This bike will have so much meaning in the end, I'm stoked for you!
Congrats and enjoy every moment of with your pop! Memories for a lifetime!

Without a doubt this will be the project you will be the most proud of. Glad to see you get to build a bike with your dad this way

looking forward to this big time! the emotional projects always come out the nicest; we put in that much extra time into them....

Wow, Kev. That's outstanding. I know you'll do the bike proud. And to do the build with your father, that's truly something special.

Here's a little inspiration for you. I saw this just last weekend at the Portland Vintage Classic race/show/swap meet. I'll post more pictures from that today or tomorrow.

Thanks Guys!! Can't wait to drag the rest of the parts home. I blasted the front frame loop yesterday. Its in primo condition, no accident damage or chopping. Looking forward to my friend coming down this week to help identify the rest of the parts at Dad's.

I picked up the rest of the parts for my Indian today from Dad. Wow, this bike is complete, missing a few things but pretty amazing. The tanks are nice, Stelling & Hellings high bars(score!), corbin speedometer (Huge Score!), Indian shift knob, Linkert M6SA carb (score!) etc. The cases and primary are good, all internals are there. They had 16's laced onto the hub and its supposed to have 18's. I'll find some 18's to buy at some point. One thing is for sure, this project will keep me broke for years to come. Can't wait.
