Hmm... not all that common, though there are a few french settlements around (close to St. Pierre, Miquelon - ie. the little piece of france that snapped off and floated to the southern shore of NL).
I had a grade 4 french teacher named Mr. Comeau... With a name like that (and a population so small) chances are they're related somehow.
