Info on old Schott jacket?

Been Around the Block
I was curious about this old jacket, having learned here that Schott jackets go with the cafe' scene. My grandfather bought it originally, then gave it to my dad. My uncle, being younger than my dad also had this for awhile then when I started riding, my dad handed it down to me. It's been crashed in a few times, once a really bad one for my dad on his T-120 when he fell asleep & is in generally poor condition. The back stitching of both shoulders are blowed out & there's a small tear on the right sleeve. One of the pockets has come almost completely undone & a couple zippers don't work. I wear it sometimes on short trips just for the hell of it. I've been considering here lately having someone fix it up a bit & slapping on some period patches to go along with my KZ650.

Can anybody shed some light on this old thing?

Cheers!

While there may be some folks who can help here, Schott actually has their own forum, and Gail, who moderates it, answers tons of questions like this all the time - she helped me id some of my jackets.

+1 on repairing it. The zippers are easy to fix, just run a needle and thread through the existing holes in the leather and you're done. As for the hole in the sleeve, I wold send it to a professional leather repair place. It would be cheaper than replacing it (new Schott jackets are over $300) and would preserve an awesome story.

That jacket is a piece of American History. You do not own a jacket like that as it will outlive you. You are merely its steward while you are alive. With your story that jacket may be the single most bad ass leather I have ever seen.

One question, How the fuck do you fall asleep on a motorcycle!!!???
