installing GSX-R 750 Carbs in my DOHC cb750.. any experts out there?

just purchased some GSXR carbs for my dohc cb750, since when i purchased the bike it didn't have carbs on it. So i figured it was a perfect opportunity to do the gsxr's-

any experts out there on getting this shit done?? any tips, tricks, etc...?

Are they rebuilt carbs?


Do they have a fully matched set of jets that you've visually inspected personally?


Are all the o-rings brand new, including the ones between the carbs on the fuel lines?


Are the gaskets fresh and intact?


Are the diaphrams intact and in good shape?


Have you personally bench synced these carbs prior to installation?


Regarding the bike:


Air filters and exhaust will change your air/fuel mixture ratio, so that means the stock jets may not be the ones you need for the bike to perform at its' peak potential. Work with DynoJet, and buy the correct Jet kit for your combination of bike and carbs. I spent DAYS fussing with jets before I bought their kit. After I properly installed their kit? I tuned the bike in under 2 hours. It's worth every penny.


I find that it's best to remove the jets yourself and visually inspect them to make sure they are properly installed, and are matching, and are the correct jet size. Never trust a PO when it comes to this. Since they're already off the bike, it's an easy task.

Those carbs are bigger than the ones I used. Mine are BT34SS.

i found another guy under the 750 custom site and he recommended these ones i bought because he has the same set and said they work good. what made you choose the 34mm over the 36mm?
 
bigger carbs don't mean more performance.....

you need to get carbs that match what you have.

Im not very up on my DOHC swap info but 36s seem large for a stock bike.
pods and cut exhaust don't count as performance mods...
I would assume you need port work, cams, and more to really make 36s work.
think it would also be bad as they are CV carbs and need a cretin flow to make things work.

Its kind of like all the guys with 32mm carbs on their stock cb350s.....they never seem to understand why they cant get the bike to run right....
