Installing sportster mufflers on a cx500

Hello,

1) I have a 1980 Honda CX500D that currently has straight pipes (no mufflers), and I also have some harley sportster mufflers that I would like to put on. I do not have the HBox that was originally on the bike, nor do I have the exhaust system to attach to the headers (? not sure if that sounds right).

2) A side issue I also have with the motorcycle is almost constant crackling & backfiring upon deceleration, with a diminished idle that had to be adjusted. It may be perforated cut off valves, although this guess is based on this forum discussion here: http://cx500forum.com/index.php?/topic/340-exhaust-popping-on-decceleration/

Does anyone have a suggestion on where I could get the mufflers installed installed in Toronto? I can probably do the second problem at the same place...

I dont know where to get them installed, but the cracking on decel is from your carbs needing re-jetted. Its running lean, so dont put too many miles on it....

The thing is, it was running more "normal" for approximately 500km, and then one day I took a short trip and the bike started to idle a lot lower, to the point where I had to re-adjust it so it wouldn't die, and the crackling & back firing went from almost never to almost constant anytime I would decelerate. I'm just wondering if something else got clogged or opened up or broken in that moment when everything turned to shit.

But yah, it does need to be rejetted regardless.
